St. Louis-based WEP LLC (formerly World Events Productions) is a leading producer of innovative and cutting edge children’s entertainment. Since it was founded in 1980, WEP has created, produced and distributed several award-winning series, with a library of over 250 half-hour episodes.
Released in 1984, WEP’s breakaway success Voltron: Defender of the Universe (124 episodes) quickly skyrocketed to be the number one children’s program in the US and around the world. WEP followed up withSaber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (52 episodes), a thrilling anime-western that continues to air in several countries worldwide. In 1989 WEP created the memorable Denver the Last Dinosaur (51 episodes), the story of six California teens and their rockin’ dino pal, featuring an unforgettable theme song: Denver the Last Dinosaur, He’s My Friend and a Whole Lot More! In association with Netter Digital Entertainment and Mike Young Productions, in 1998 WEP produced the first all-CGI series ever to be entirely animated in the US with Voltron: The Third Dimension (26 episodes).
In 2011, Voltron returned bigger and badder than ever with the all-newVoltron Force (26 episodes). Produced by Los Angeles-based Kickstart Productions in association with New York-based Classic Media, the 2D/CGI series premiered to record ratings on Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons Network.
